LLuminari Expert, Dr. Laura Jana is a pediatrician and Associate Director of the Boys Town Institute for Child Health Improvement based in Omaha,
Nebraska. She is the co-author of the parenting book, Heading Home With Your Newborn: From Birth to Reality, published in 2005 by the
American Academy of Pediatrics. Having served as a consultant to Dr. Benjamin Spock for the seventh edition of Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care,
published in 1998, she went on to co-found the Dr. Spock Company, in 1999, where she served for two years as Vice President of Program
Development.
A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Jana completed her pediatrics internship at the University of California,
San Francisco, and finished her residency training in pediatrics at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland. She is a Fellow of the
American Academy of Pediatrics and board certified in pediatrics.
As a parenting expert, Dr. Jana is regularly quoted in national parenting magazines including Parents, Parenting, American Baby, Working Mother
and Child. In addition to being a member of the LLuminari Expert Network, she is a media spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics, and
a ClubMom expert. She has also served as a pediatric/parenting consultant for both Babyzone.com and The Disney Internet Group. As a parenting
expert she can be frequently seen on WOWT Ch 6 - Omaha's NBC television affiliate, and heard on Q98.5 FM's "Pat & JT in the Morning" - one of
Omaha's top morning radio programs.
In addition to being the proud mother of three, Dr. Jana is a certified child passenger safety instructor,
writes a review column of children's books, is a national trainer for Reach Out and Read, and is the owner/operator of an educational child care
center - Primrose School of Legacy.
